This week’s health food product review and here we have the Organic Seaveg Crispies by Clearspring.
I picked these sea vegetable crisps up on my latest trip to the Wholefoods supermarket here in Giffnock, Glasgow last weekend.
The Clearspring sea vegetable range has been extended to include these new light, thin and crispy toasted nori snacks (crispy seaweed thins).
Made with just four simple ingredients: nori grown in the clear waters off the coast of Korea, unrefined sea salt and organic sesame and rapeseed oil.
Baked for just a few seconds to produce this tasty, convenient and nutritious snack. Delicious on its own, with sushi or sprinkled over salads.
The Organic Seaveg crispies are gluten free, high in fibre, vegan, MSG free, non-GMO, no additives or preservatives and only 28 calories per pack.
The Organic Seaveg crispies come in two flavours, original and Chilli.
I’m a massive fan of the health and nutritional benefits of seaweeds, so I was very eager to try these Nori seaweed based crispies.
Seaweeds are the richest plant-based dietary source of the mineral iodine, which is essential for healthy thyroid gland function and thyroid hormone synthesis.
Scientific research is still consistently finding that iodine deficiency and sub-optimal iodine status to be common in many parts of the world.
Vegetarians and in particular strict vegans are especially prone to developing iodine deficiency, due to inadequate intake. Seaweeds are a tasty and easy way to get more bioavailable iodine into the diet.
Seaweeds such as Nori(laver), dulse, wakame, kelp and others, are also great sources of hard to obtain trace and ultra-trace elements, which are often deficient in the modern diet.

The Natural Health Blogger’s Review
The organic sea vegetable crispies from Clearspring are a tasty and easy way to get more iodine and mineral rich seaweeds into the diet. Unlike Asian diets, the modern Western diet doesn’t tend to contain much in the way of seaweeds.
Unlike Asian diets, the modern Western diet doesn’t tend to contain much in the way of seaweeds and as such iodine intake may be lacking in certain populations.
I tried both flavours, the original and the chilli. Both are very tasty, if you are a fan of spice and heat, then the chilli flavour provides that extra kick.
The ingredients are healthy, vegan and gluten free, so are a suitable snack for those with Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity.
The price for the multi-pack works out to about £0.73 pence a pack, which is a fair price I believe. The seaveg crispies are a light snack, so they don’t provide a lot in the way of calories or satiety, at 28 calories per pack.
However, that also makes the seaveg crispies the perfect healthy snack for those looking to lose weight and keep within their daily calorie guidelines.
I would definitely recommend these Organic Seaveg Crispies for anyone who is a fan of seaweeds and healthy snacks.
£2.19 for 3 packs.
