On my most recent visit to our local Holland & Barrett health food store, i noticed that they had many new healthy snacks on offer.
I have been eyeing up the raw chocolate covered fruit snacks from The Raw Chocolate Company for some time now, so im very glad that Holland & Barrett have introduced this range.
Raw cacao and dark chocolate are extremely rich sources of a type of flavonoid known as flavanols, which research has shown to help support and improve cardiovascular health. Regular consumption of flavonoid rich foods may significantly decrease risk of developing heart disease.
Dried fruits such as raisins and goji berries are also great natural sources of anti-oxidants, so you get a double whammy of heart supportive phyto-nutrients with this treat.
There are three different raw chocolate covered dried fruits in the range including raw chocolate mulberries, raw chocolate raisins and raw chocolate goji berries.

Mulberries are one of my favorite dried fruits, they are very tasty and have a sweet almost “white chocolate” flavor.
Dried mulberries are a great source of many nutrients including vitamin C, fiber, protein, iron and anthocyanin anti-oxidants.
The raw chocolate covered mulberries were very decadent as i expected they would be. The chocolate flavors synergize well with the sweetness from the mulberries.
I wasn’t sure when buying the snack packs if the portion size was going to be enough, but i ended up getting 2 servings out of the 28g pack.
A small amount of these goes a long way, the raw cacao also offers a delightful natural mood and energy boost.

Next snack pack to try was the raw chocolate covered raisins.
I’ll admit raisin’s have never been my favorite dried fruit of mine, but these were excellent once again.
The raw chocolate raisins were extremely moreish, this time the small 28g snack pack only lasted me one serving.
Raisin’s are a good source of many nutrients including cardiovascular supportive anti-oxidant polyphenols, vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Last but not least, we have the raw chocolate covered goji berries.
I first came across Goji Berries many years back in a Chinese supermarket, long before they were popular as a “superfood”.
Goji berries have a long history of use in traditional chinese medicine and are packed with nutrients such as vitamin C, anti-oxidants, minerals, fiber and many other beneficial phyto-nutrients.
These raw chocolate covered goji berries were excellent, definitely my favorite of the three raw chocolate snack packs from The Raw Chocolate Co.
I would buy all three of these again, they make a good healthy snack, especially for those who are lovers of raw chocolate and dried fruits.
